Making Friends on Tractor trail

22 March 2008

This workday afforded a unique opportunity to not only help the trails but also help some fellow riders.

Francis from MTBR was organizing a huge ride that had riders coming all the way from aptos and then attempting to ride every trail in the Demo Forest. The one problem....carrying enough water to make this 10,000 feet of climbing ride a possibility. Well the Stewards of Soquel Forest stepped up to help out by coordinating with Francis to leave water and snacks on the tailgate of the work trucks so that the riders could refuel mid-ride. It worked really well and the riders have been talking about those brownies ever since.

You can see the thread about this ride here: MTBR

The trailwork crew split up into two batches with Charles and I high tailing it up Tractor to the intersection of ridge trail to cut out some deadfall that was blocking the trail. The rest of the crew worked uphill on Tractor clearing drains and fixing up the lips of some of the launchers on the trail.
